Your guide to looking your very best for the summer event season for women and men

We’ve all done it – we learn of (or plan) an upcoming event and we start making a mental checklist of everything that needs to be done to prepare to look our very best.  A new outfit, new shoes, and a trip to the salon for fresh hair and nails are the “must-dos” for most of us, but what often gets overlooked is one of the most important elements of what gets noticed – and remembered – most about you: your skin.
If you spend any time on social media, you’ve probably found yourself hovering over photos of ridiculously beautiful people, marvelling at how effortlessly fresh and glowy they look.  Is it all good luck and good genes?  In most cases, the answer is a resounding No.  Your skin is like the foundation of a house, meaning the condition it’s in plays an important role in your overall appearance, and that it requires regular maintenance.  Just like you can’t cover up bad walls with good paint, no amount of moisturizer or makeup can conceal tired, neglected skin.  The loss of elasticity and volume in your skin, enlarged pores, sun damage, acne scars or even the appearance of fine lines can affect not only how you look, but how you feel.  Whether you’re a bride-to-be, celebrating a milestone or simply hosting a soiree, you deserve to sparkle inside and out!
So what’s the solution?  Start now and follow our foolproof guide for the months, weeks and days leading up to your event, and guarantee that you’re putting your best face forward this summer!

3 months in advance

NOW is the time to start preparing! It’s the ideal time to speak to our skin specialists about reaching your skin goals in time for your big day.
In order to begin dramatically improving the appearance of your skin, it’s important to be sure that you’re using products that are meant for your skin type, which is why we recommend scheduling an Advanced Skin Analysis to optimize your at-home skincare routine.  Although it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the number of products on the market and to convince yourself that you need them all, a professional analysis will save you time and money by determining your skin’s specific needs, meaning that you can finally stop your aspirational shopping trips in the skincare aisle.  Once your skin is receiving the benefits of a customized blend of nutrients, it’s going to be in good shape to take the next step and move on to more specialized treatments.
3 months before your event is a good time to target the “big” things that bother you about the appearance of your skin, such as uneven pigmentation, sun damage, redness and uneven texture. This is a job for lasers, resurfacing treatments, chemical peels and even PRP (platelet-rich plasma) to eliminate brown or red spots, address texture issues, stimulate collagen and lift pigment.

2 months in advance

Now is the ideal time to turn your attention to any facial features that you think could use a little “zhuzhing”. You know those juicy lips and killer cheekbones you’ve been dreaming about? Meet your new best friend injectables.  A little bit of cosmetic filler goes a long way, and if you’re a fan of instant gratification, look no further.  Injectables can quickly get rid of dark under-eye shadows, soften creases around the mouth and nose, and improve definition and symmetry.
For the best, long-lasting results from injectables, you need to be religiously following your new skincare routine.  If you’re ready to up the ante, introducing regular medi-facials is your checkmate move at this stage.  Not only do they feel AMAZING, but they can also be an ongoing part of maintaining that good foundation you’ve been building.

1 month in advance

One month before your big day is the perfect time to start erasing pesky wrinkles and frown lines with neurotoxin injections.  Squinting in the sun at an outdoor celebration may make you look angry, and you definitely don’t want your RBF captured in photos on your special day!
Small amounts of anti-wrinkle injections to the forehead and smile lines can also help with a smooth makeup application. Plan this at least one month before so that 2-week touch-ups are possible, if necessary.
Speaking of makeup, if you’re not already using mineral makeup, you’re missing out on some serious benefits.  Mineral makeup adds another level to your skincare,  and most mineral base or foundation products naturally contain SPF, meaning that you’re protecting the skin that you’ve been investing in over the last 2 months.
Lastly, to make sure you’ve got a megawatt smile in every photo now is the time to schedule teeth-whitening treatments.

1-2 weeks in advance

Now that all of your intensive treatments are complete, it’s time to nourish and pamper your skin so that it glows beautifully on the event day. Relax and unwind with a medi-facial that will exfoliate your skin while hydrating and softening it so that you’re ready to conquer the world when you slip into that party outfit!
On the day of your event relax and enjoy yourself, knowing that your skin is beautiful, calm and healthy and that you’ve never looked better!
